LETTER OF DEPRECIATION TO MARK C. YOUNGSON, REALTOR ALLISON JAMES ESTATES & HOMES Dear Mark, Please accept my sincere depreciation for how hard you worked to kill the deal with your buyer. You have no idea how close you came to succeeding, even at closing today: Far from your measly $375 balk; we would rid ourselves of you today! We’re sure the buyer will be happy at Trenton. We’ve shared with his neighbors what a fine man he is. You, however, need improvement. You’re only the third person I’ve done business with who has earned my letter of distinctive depreciation and good riddance. My most condescending congratulations to you! Your instinctive notion of nothing (as in what we, the sellers, have done) is a bold invention. Thank you for sharing! I had no idea I could do so much and still equal zero. Completely shaken and nearly even smitten by your intimidating pricing demands, I got over it and we more than led the way to reasonable solution via compromise. And then your inspirational play of the ‘cancel card’, prompting proactive solution by the lender and your sharing with her that ol’ ‘feel good’ credit for her 5 X $500 deal-saving idea! How kind of you, how magnanimous! Your theory of immutable closing costs sharpened my dullish intellect, as well! How clearly I see the wisdom in forging ahead without facts. Who needs accuracy? We’re wasting time! So miscreant of me to defend my bottom line. I writhe with remorse. But I get it now Mark: The buyer has the corner on those. Here’s a clue, Mark. I’m the seller. I set the price. You get over it, or not; get therapy, or not; but you do not try to force a price reduction by sending paperwork. You want a reduction? You ask for it. Words just don’t express how pleased I am to be done with you. You’ve thrown wrenches into processes right up to closing. Such an unpleasant, unprofessional, double-speaking agent you turned out to be. One more thing: Respect, sir. I earned yours a long time ago. You can choose not to show it all you want. I did anyway. Sincerely yours to share with the unfortunate who may seek your services, Colonel Scot W. Johnson (retired) Temecula, CA
