Frequently Asked Questions

What are the HomeLight Awards?
The HomeLight Awards are designed to showcase the talents, expertise, and hard work of the top performing real estate agents across the country. Awards are calculated on the national and local levels using the same objective real estate transaction data that we use to make our agent recommendations for buyers and sellers. HomeLight grants awards for 5 different categories: Top Buyer’s Agents, Top Seller’s Agents, Top Producers, Top Negotiators, and Sells for More.
How do I earn HomeLight Awards?
The best way to earn HomeLight Awards is to consistently do good work for your real estate clients. Awards are calculated based on your historical real estate transaction data, so you should work with our support team to update your HomeLight profile, upload and verify your transaction history, and make sure that all of the information we have about your business and your work history is accurate and up to date. All calculations are based on HomeLight’s available data at the time the award was issued and the specific requirements for each award are listed above.
How are HomeLight Awards different from other achievements?
Unlike other real estate awards and rankings, the HomeLight Awards are entirely based on objective real estate transaction data. HomeLight collects this data on a regular basis to power our agent matching algorithm and provide buyers and sellers with objective, transparent, performance-based agent recommendations. Agents cannot pay HomeLight to feature them, win awards, or advertise on our platform and we do not accept self-reported qualifying data from agents or brokerages without additional validation from their clients.
How are HomeLight Awards determined?
HomeLight analyzes home sales data at both the national and local level to calculate the top 5% of high performing real estate agents in five categories: top buyer’s agents, top seller’s agents, top negotiators, sells for more, and top producing agents. National award winners are publicly announced in January of each year but local awards are distributed to the winning agents on our platform.
What do I get for winning a HomeLight Award?
We honor the top real estate agents with digital badges according to the awards they receive. Recognition can range from the local level (like San Francisco’s Top Buyer’s Agent) to the national level (like 2018 National Top Seller’s Agent).
Awards winners are encouraged to add the badges they’ve earned to their HomeLight profile, embed them on their personal and professional websites, and share them on social media.
I haven’t won a HomeLight Award yet, where can I learn more?
You’re in the right place! You can find the requirements for each HomeLight Award on this page or speak with our support team to get more information about each HomeLight Award.
When are HomeLight Award winners announced?
HomeLight releases a public HomeLight Awards list each year in January but distributes awards and associated badges to participating agents as they qualify for them.
I uploaded transactions recently. Will it count toward HomeLight Awards this year?
Yes. Best of HomeLight Awards are calculated using the most recent transaction data we have. So, as soon as we verify your transaction history it will count towards Best of HomeLight Awards.
