Jessica Sanchez, an expert with over 25 years of experience in the mortgage underwriting field, explains:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClear to close from a mortgage processing standpoint means that the borrowers have met all of the outstanding conditions or requirements that are needed in order for the borrowers to go to the closing table \u2014 and sign their final <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankrate.com\/real-estate\/closing-documents\/\">closing documents<\/a>. Once you\u2019ve signed all your documents and \u201cclosed\u201d your mortgage, the lender will pay the seller and all parties and you get the keys to your house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The documents you\u2019ll generally need when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homelight.com\/blog\/buyer-documents-needed-to-buy-a-house\/\">applying for a mortgage<\/a> (other than an ID and the application itself) include:<\/p>\n<h4>Proof of income<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Two years of tax returns, either W-2s or 1099s<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Pay stubs for the past 30 days<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Year-to-date <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanniemae.com\/content\/guide\/selling\/b3\/3.4\/04.html\">profit and loss statement<\/a> (if you\u2019re self-employed)<\/li>\n<li
