What is a jumbo mortgage?<\/h2>\n

Jumbo mortgages are home loans for an amount that surpasses the conforming loan limits set by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).<\/p>\n

In this case, \u201cconforming\u201d means that a loan meets the requirements for purchase by a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) \u2014 think Fannie Mae<\/a> and Freddie Mac<\/a>. When a loan doesn\u2019t meet these requirements, it\u2019s considered non-conforming, and this includes jumbo loans.<\/p>\n
