Already? We never start with the theme music!!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s true, but this isn\u2019t a normal Walkthrough episode.<\/p>\n<p>Hi there, how are you? This is Matt McGee talking. I\u2019m the Managing Editor of HomeLight\u2019s Agent Resource Center. I\u2019m also your host on The Walkthrough.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve never heard a Walkthrough episode before, this probably isn\u2019t a good one to begin with. This is a shorter episode. There&#8217;s no interviews, no business advice. Today I just have a few \u201chousekeeping\u201d items to share with my regular listeners. So if you\u2019re new today &#8212; welcome, thanks for listening. Feel free to listen, but please do check out previous episodes to get a better sense of what the show is about.<\/p>\n<p>For you, my regular listener, I want to give you a heads up on what\u2019s going on with The Walkthrough for the rest of this year and then into 2022. Like I said, there&#8217;s a few housekeeping items plus a request for help. So let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n<p>Number one\u2026let\u2019s talk about the upcoming schedule.<\/p>\n<p>This is the last Walkthrough episode of the year. The last episode of season 2. Kind of. I\u2019m still hoping to end the year with a \u201cBest Of\u201d episode like I did last year. The exact timing of that is still to be determined.<\/p>\n<p>You might be wondering \u2026 why is season 2 ending so much earlier than season 1? Great question. Last year, season 1 went all the way up to Thanksgiving week. This year, season 2 is ending right before Halloween. Why?<\/p>\n<p>One reason is that my 30th wedding anniversary is coming up soon, and I\u2019m taking an extended PTO &#8212; extended vacation &#8212; to celebrate the occasion with my wife. That\u2019s the main reason, I&#8217;m just not gonna be around. Also, there&#8217;s the fact that HomeLight needs my help on some non-Podcast projects soon, and you add those things together, it led me to decide that it makes sense to end season 2 right now.<\/p>\n<p>Like I said, I\u2019m gonna try to get that \u201cBest Of\u201d episode out right before or after Thanksgiving, but that\u2019s gonna be it for the rest of this calendar year.<\/p>\n<p>Housekeeping item number two \u2026 I\u2019m hiring and would love any referrals you have.<\/p>\n<p>This is super exciting. This podcast has been pretty much a one-man operation since we started. I have Chris who does the final audio editing of every episode &#8212; and he\u2019s fantastic at it &#8212; but pretty much everything else you hear is me.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s changing soon. We have some plans next year that will require me to work on the podcast and some other agent content, too. Very excited about that.<\/p>\n<p>So we\u2019re looking to hire someone to help me with The Walkthrough. I don\u2019t know the exact title yet. I\u2019m actually writing the job description right now. It should be finished by the time you hear this.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m looking for someone who really knows real estate and really knows what life as a real estate agent is like. Someone who can follow the industry and say, \u201cWe need to do an episode on Topic X\u201d or \u201cWe need to do an episode with this agent, she really knows her stuff.\u201d Someone who can do a lot of the research, someone who can do prep calls with guests, help me out with a lot of the legwork that goes into a weekly show. Someone who also understands marketing and content creation would be great, someone who understands podcasting, etc. This person could eventually become a co-host with me. The door is open for something like that.<\/p>\n<p>I think it\u2019s probably a role that\u2019s perfect for a former real estate agent. Someone who knows the industry but maybe wasn\u2019t a great salesperson \u2026 so they got out of the business. Or maybe someone who shifted into marketing or admin support for a team, kinda like I\u2019ve done for my wife&#8217;s team.<\/p>\n<p>If you know someone who might be a fit for this role, please get in touch. I\u2019ll send you the job description when it\u2019s published. Probably share it in our Facebook mastermind, too. I&#8217;m really excited to get this person on board and take The Walkthrough to new heights next year.<\/p>\n<p>Number three \u2026 a new listener survey is coming soon.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I won\u2019t be making new Walkthrough episodes the rest of the year, I\u2019ll still be working to make it better when season 3 begins. So, during the upcoming holidays, I\u2019ll be inviting you to take our latest listener survey.<\/p>\n<p>You probably know that I\u2019ve done two of these before. The surveys have been a great tool for me to learn from you what you like about the show, what you wish we were doing differently, and what we should be doing that we\u2019re not &#8212; stuff like that. Look for that hopefully around the first week of December. You\u2019ll get an email inviting you to take the survey, and I\u2019ll post about it in our listener mastermind group.<\/p>\n<p>And item number four \u2026 speaking of season 3, I\u2019m not 100% certain when it\u2019ll begin. That\u2019ll depend a lot on how soon we can fill that position I just talked about and get the new person trained. Again, I\u2019ll keep everyone updated in our mastermind group.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, I think that covers everything. The quick recap is this:<\/p>\n<p>Number one: This is pretty much the last episode of season 2. I\u2019m planning to do a \u201cBest of\u201d episode before the end of the year, but I&#8217;m not exactly sure when that\u2019ll be ready.<\/p>\n<p>Number two: I\u2019m hiring. Looking for someone to help produce this show &#8211; rthings like esearch, screen topics and guests, stuff like that. If you know someone who might be interested, get in touch with me anytime.<\/p>\n<p>Number three: Expect to get a listener survey probably in early December. I&#8217;d love to get your candid feedback, it always makes things better.<\/p>\n<p>And number four: Season 3 will be coming your way in the new year, but I don\u2019t have an exact date just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Until then, you can reach me anytime.
