However, local markets like California<\/a> continue to face low inventory challenges, making turnkey homes even more difficult to find. That\u2019s why many people are now looking into building their own homes and trying to figure out the cost to build a house in California.<\/p>\n

If buyers can\u2019t find a turnkey home, they sometimes decide the best bet is to \u201cbuild from the ground up,\u201d said Danae Aballi<\/a>, a real estate agent who has worked with over 78% more single-family homes than the average agent in Costa Mesa, California<\/a>. So, what is the cost to build a house in California?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like the conversation comes up in almost every transaction,\u201d Aballi says.<\/p>\n

In the more expensive markets around Southern California, it\u2019s common for buyers to \u201cscrape and rebuild\u201d \u2014 buying a property for the land where a large part of a property\u2019s home lies, tearing down the existing home, and building new, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
