A 1% real estate commission for your listing agent is a huge discount, given the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homelight.com\/blog\/buyer-real-estate-commission-rules-and-regulations\/\">new commission structure<\/a> that decouples the commission of the listing agent and the buyer\u2019s agent.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s important to note that while you are only technically on the hook for the listing agent commission under the revised commission rules, there is the risk of your home sitting on the market without the additional push of offering the buyer&#8217;s agent commission.<\/p>\n<p>Many buyers in the current market still choose to pay for the buyer\u2019s agent commission, and if that is the case for you, the 1% reduced rate offered by the listing agent affects just that \u2014 the listing agent&#8217;s typical 3% commission. Those companies that are advertising 1% commissions are only telling half the story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When you account for the market conditions and the difference that paying for the buyer\u2019s agent fee can make on the time your house spends on the market, Medford says most sellers using a 1% service will still likely end up paying up to 4% in commissions to cover the buyer\u2019s agent commission.<\/p>\n<h3>You may receive \u2018discount\u2019 service<\/h3>\n<p>While saving on commission can seem like a direct path to increased profits from your home sale, the reality might be more nuanced. The 1% rate, while potentially saving you thousands on the transaction, could also have implications for the overall success and profitability of your sale.<\/p>\n<p>Reduced commission rates can sometimes mean limited services or less experienced agents, factors that might influence the final sale price and, consequently, your net earnings.
