At the beginning of the decade, the typical home sold for $1,230,000, whereas in June of this year, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sccaor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/June2024.pdf\">sold for $1,700,000<\/a>, based on data from the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason we\u2019re seeing these increases in median prices is because we\u2019re seeing more sales in higher-priced areas,\u201d said Oscar Wei, senior economist for the California Association of Realtors, in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siliconvalley.com\/2024\/07\/30\/bay-area-home-prices-up-6-from-last-year-as-wealthy-buyers-dominate-housing-market\/\">The Mercury News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 50% of the homes for sale are $2 million and above,\u201d noted Michelle Perry, president-elect of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, in a separate interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/sanfrancisco\/news\/santa-clara-county-2-million-median-home-price-south-bay-homeownership-out-of-reach\/\">CBS Bay Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do have some homes that are below. But even homes at are priced right at the $2 million mark are going for more.
