The housing market looks very different this summer than it did just a few years ago. In many parts of the country, buyers finally have more room to negotiate as inventory rises and homes take longer to sell. Nationally, existing-home sales are mostly flat year over year, while housing inventory continues to grow and affordability is improving across every region, according to the <\/span>National Association of Realtors<\/span><\/a> (NAR).<\/span><\/p>\n

But some markets are still moving at a much faster pace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of the country\u2019s hottest summer housing markets are concentrated in the Northeast and Midwest, where inventory remains tight and competition is strong. HomeLight\u2019s latest <\/span>Top Agent Insights survey<\/span><\/a> found that sellers continue to hold the most negotiating power in those two regions, even as market conditions soften elsewhere. \u201cWhen the right house hits the market, competition absolutely still exists,\u201d says <\/span>Robyn Nasuti<\/span><\/a>, a seasoned Massachusetts real estate agent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using a mix of housing market data and local expertise<\/a> gleaned from a network of nearly 30,000 top-rated real estate agents, here are 15 housing markets where sellers continue to have the upper hand this summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
