- Adisu never responded to my request
Adisu was the agent for the people who purchased our home in Renton. I've never worked with someone who lacked common courtesy, ethics, or communication skills such as Adisu. A week before closing Adisu and the lender both fell off the face of the earth - no responses to texts, calls, emails, and we were concerned. After multiple attempts to reach him over a span of days, we finally learn 3 days before close that his client's finances were starting to fall through and they just needed "an extra day or two"(no wonder no one would return our correspondence). We were days away from moving across the country, with a uhaul and mover reservation. Given the "day or two" estimate, we kept them. Come a few days later, our lives are in a u-haul and the run around began. We were told the buyers were "fully approved, passed underwriting, and can close in 3 days". 3 days later, we learned that was a bold faced lie, and they hadn't been approved and now had to wait another weekend. Meanwhile, our lives remain in a u-haul and we're at risk of losing our new home. Insert more days of begging for updates and getting absolutely nothing from him (we have all the email and texts chains to prove it). FINALLY, they pass underwriting and are scheduled to sign their paperwork the next day. That time comes and goes and we learn the buyers refused to sign, but there was 0 communication from Adisu. At this point, we're forced to involve his managing broker. We called him, again, multiple times before any communication with us, and were told they did not refuse to sign (lie). Another day goes by and his clients sign, but only to delay our closing another day and prohibiting us to close before another weekend has passed. By this point, we're being charged a per diem by the people we're buying our new home from, along with extending our u-haul reservation. We asked for compensation from his commission, to which he verbally agreed to, and we put the request in to have this in writing. We start our trek to our new home across the country as we were told everything was cleared and we were going to close the next day. Fast foward to the day of close: We learn the buyers are now waiting on gift funds to clear (via a personal check!) and they need another 7 days to close. No one ever communicated with us that they were waiting on gift funds, let alone a sizeable amount via a personal check. Everyone in the real estate or banking industry knows that checks take DAYS to clear, and he knew we were literally on our way to our new home (that couldn't close until this one did). He was going to do nothing about it until we demanded he cancel the check and immediately wire funds. Due to this negligence (again), the escrow company didn't receive the funds in time on Friday to also close on our new home, yet delaying us another weekend and being forced to find a pet-friendly hotel last minute. Now, I've bought and sold properties a few times and do understand that things can take a turn. However, when things get sticky that's when the communication and drive to make anything work needs to go into overdrive. Quite the contrary was done. Real estate is not a M-F 8-5 job, however he definitely treated it like one. Overall, Adisu (and the lenders) lack of communication, sense of urgency, lying, and misleading information ended up costing us over $3,000. The best part of it all is that he then went back on his word and refused to compensate us (or help us in any way) with the money we were out. We were completely open to even splitting costs in some way. If you're ever looking for a home, do not trust Adisu to represent you well. And if you're selling your home, be sure to take note to who is representing your buyers and steer clear. You'll end up saving yourself a lot of headache, time, and money.
