  • Courtney listed, but didn't sell, my home

      I so wish I had read Yelp and Google reviews prior! Worst experience of my life. Courtney Newton from Keller Williams had me pay her a check in the amount of $175 (made out to "Cash") to get her cleaning person do a deep, post-move out clean. Courtney also referred me to her handyman and had me pay him $475. Courtney assured me she would follow up on the list of items he was to repair and verify that the work had been done. However, in the photos she took to list the property, I saw that a number of items had not been repaired. I followed up with her, and she said she would have him back to repair it - this was prior to any showings. Unfortunately, what I could not see was that Courtney never had any cleaning done, did not follow through on the additional repairs, told me the additional repairs had been done, and, failed to notify me that the handyman who had done some of the work damaged my home in the process. What's much worse, is that she showed the house in this condition (she said she had 40 people view the property in this shape). I have photos showing cobwebs all over the walls and light fixtures, damaged lighting hanging by a thread to the ceiling, dislodged recessed lighting, what looks like blood stains on a wall, dead insects on the floors, and dust/dirt all over the floors. I am pretty devastated by this violation of trust, and financial loss, especially all while I have moved to another state - which Courtney is well aware of. I am now having to pay all over again, to get the home cleaned, and repaired from issues that were already supposed to be fixed, but also am having to repair the damage to the unit. However, what I cannot repair - is the loss of all 40 prospective buyers that have already seen my home in this condition. Additionally, as a result of Courtney, I've had to take the home off the market to pay for these cleanings and additional repairs. So I am losing opportunities to sell my home each and every day, while already paying for another home in my new state. I believe that this deceit and the loss of my money is truly a violation of a real estate's code of ethical conduct. Please don't become another victim of Courtney.
