David Hughes is a southern-born-and-raised native of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He spent his formative years in Little Rock before earning a full athletic scholarship to Arkansas Tech University, where he was a four-year letterman. His 6'5" frame naturally lent itself to basketball, but it was his intensity, dedication, and tenacity which led him to be named captain of the basketball team—and to achieve his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance. He also enjoyed a strong leadership role in the Kappa Alpha fraternity, forging friendships along the way that have lasted decades.
David spent his first two years out of college in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, working at Southeastern Microfilm Inc.
