  • Ernest listed and sold my home

We were first time sellers. We constantly felt that he was looking down his nose at us. Every time we asked a question he would scuff or laugh and dismiss it. We told him multiple times the price we wanted to sell for and he refused to list it for that much. He claimed we couldn't get that much. Technically he worked for us, so he should have listed it for whatever we wanted. If it didn't sell at that we would have lowered the price. We wanted to get another agent but we had limited time so we couldn't. So we listed for less than we wanted. In the first 24 hours we had 10 showings. We had multiple offers in the first 24 hours. He brought us two offers one for asking price and the other for only $500 more. Not only were we under pressure to take the first offer because there was a time limit on it but Ernest also was pressuring us to take it. The downside to taking this offer was that the closing date was 2 weeks before our next house was ready which means we (my wife, one year old son and myself) would be homeless for two weeks. When we told him this he still continued to say "this is the offer you want. this is the offer." He never told us that we could talk to the buyer and ask him to extend the closing date or that it would maybe be in our best interest to take the other offer that was willing to wait that extra two weeks. So in the end we feel as if he was working more in his best interest and not ours. Maybe he got kudos for selling a house in 24 hours or possibly he wanted less paperwork. All in all this was not a good experience for us. We didn't get the price we wanted. We didn't get the professionalism and help we expected. We also felt very pressured to accept an offer that was not in our best interest.
