Water Front: When we started the search for our dream home on the water, we didn't know the first thing about life on the water. Irene educated us about the mean low tide, septic tanks, andwell water living. She gave us about 30 listings every few weeks to look over to help us better narrow down our search. She set up Saturday or Sunday drives around to 5 or 6 places for a few months before we spotted the one right for us. [Irene, I don't want anyone getting the idea they can sting you on for months like we, unfortunately did!]She knew our requirements and would say things like "Rik can put his garden here", or "this property doesn't have the view you want". She really listened to us and helped us get the perfect place for us.She helped with negotiations by providing comps and adjusting upward or downward as needed. We were very pleased to get the property at the price we could accept, because Irene explained to the seller how we came up with the offer. She ensured that we understood the county's prohibitions against building on the property, taking trees down and adding to the dock. She would often call the county on our behalf to get the information we needed, then encourage us to call ourselves to get the information first hand. She left no part of the buying process to chance. She gave us the information so that we could be in control.She was on the property for the well, ceptic(? not sure this was even done)and home inspection. When the well water test came back with lead and the bacteria in it, she got the seller to pay more than half of the water treatment system. And she educated the seller on how to flush the system to get the bacteria out. Her hard work is evident in that we went to settlement within 40 days of the offer and acceptance! We are now settled in to our beautiful little cottage on the West River and it wouldn't have happened without Irene!
