  • Jennifer showed me homes

I highly recommend Jennifer Doering Jones to any family who is engaged in serious deliberation regarding their housing options. She is very approachable, a good listener, and appropriates her impressive enthusiasm, energy, and initiative in a very timely and efficient manner. Or put it a different way: She gets the job done and quickly follows through on what needs to happen on your behalf. Recently, Jennifer was a huge help to me with trying to get a handle on how to best manage my mother’s home after moving her into assisted living. I had just spend the past 2 months moving my mother, getting her settled, downsizing her possessions, and cleaning out her house. Let’s just say that feeling a bit exhausted was an understatement. I was really dreading the next important task of trying to decide how I could best utilize her home to finance her care needs. I was very aware that my mother’s home was the one resource that she had for her care needs. Additionally, while trying to wrap my head around this I was also having to tell more than one inquiring neighbor or community member that I simply had no idea what my plans were for my mother’s home. I had multiple unsolicited offers even before I had finished clearing out her home. Sensing my anxiety, my mother’s financial advisor referred Jennifer to me as a recommended resource for generating viable options on how to best move forward on my mother’s home. Just having some objective support from someone who wasn’t family, or had a personal agenda who could challenge my thinking was what I really needed. My main question was whether it was prudent to rent or sell my mother’s home within this current market. Jennifer made a great impression in the first 15 seconds we talked on the phone. She was very personable and took necessary time to listen and then provide some good thoughts for my initial questions. She offered to conduct a comparative market analysis of the home so I could get a handle on what my mother’s home was valued at and what I could possibly rent it for if I chose to do so. Jennifer wasted no time and went straightaway to mom’s home that same day. She even arranged the lighting of the home and closed up some drapes while she was there which I was grateful for. She then provided me a thorough market analysis of the home and gave me some very good recommendations on repairs and upgrades that were very achievable and would really stand to increase the marketability of the home. She also provided me with additional contacts of property managers that she knew and worked with. A few days after Jennifer visited my mom’s home we finally were able to schedule an in-person meeting wearing masks and maintaining CDC social distancing guidelines. It was great to meet with Jennifer on location at my mother’s home and she provided me with some very good specifics on what areas of my mom’s home needed some attention. I have to reiterate: I found Jennifer to be a really attentive listener. She also is very energetic and someone who wastes little time getting down to work. I’m very grateful for the information that she provided to me, but more than that, I really appreciate her energy and initiative. She also is very well connected and resourceful with her work both in real-estate and managing properties. Following our meeting Jennifer took additional time to generate some different net proceeds scenarios that I might want to consider if I ultimately was going to sell the home. She also provided me some helpful financial projections on costs and overhead if I were to rent my mother’s home. The outcome of working with Jennifer was that I had a much better handle on what the realistic outcomes would be for either renting or selling my mom’s home. I also was equipped with a working list of to-do items and informed on a few others that I hadn’t even considered. I’ve learned from past life experiences that often the first step out of the quicksand of a crisis or a decision is to avoid jumping for quick fixes or solutions but take the necessary time to really define all the variables and problems that we are facing. Also, taking those variables and placing them into context is also so very important. And, along those same lines: It’s very important to step outside the boxing ring of our brains and find support and objective professional perspectives on what we are facing. Let’s just say that Jennifer definitely provided me with the support, active listening, and very thorough information that timely and connected to the context of the Seattle real estate and rental market. If you, or your family is looking to buy, sell, or rent your home I would highly recommend considering Jennifer. She is very personable, approachable, and will take the time to listen to your vision for your next home. It’s evident that she loves helping people and coming up with resourceful and very practical solutions for preparing a home for potential sale or as a rental. She keeps close tabs on what is happening in the Seattle marketplace and she’s also invested in helping and serving her community. Give her a call and you will understand why I had such a good experience working with her.
