My family moved to Nevada in 1987, looking for a less crowded environment in which to raise our children. We found the year round recreation in the area to be one of our favorite past times. We also spent a lot of time with the various animals on our small ranch and participating in sports and arts. Junior rodeo, little league, 4-H, softball, Reno Irish Dance company, NV Junior Opera, and Arttown are some of the organizations we have been involved with, along with many area schools from private to public. I even spent some time home schooling. I started and ran a school art program for 12 years. The ranch environment shaped my life in Reno early on. I became very active in the Master Gardener program through the UNR Cooperative Extension.
