Craig has deep roots in Colorado going back five generations to his great-great-grandfather, who in 1884, drove 300 head of cattle to the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado. A lifelong resident of the South Metro area, Craig graduated from Cherry Creek High School. After three years at the University of Wyoming, he returned to his Denver roots and graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
