The "journey home" (as I'll refer to our time together) is personal, so let me share just a little bit about myself. In 1981, I was wide-eyed in anticipation of changing the world. Freshly equipped with degree in Biology and a specialization in Interpersonal Communication, I joined Wake Forest School of Medicine in its joint venture with NASA to study the effects of weightlessness on the circulatory system. Naturally inquisitive, research was the perfect outlet for my endless curiosity. After several years, no longer able ignore the loud tick-tock of my biological clock, I took an extended maternity leave (>25 years) to attend to my life's greatest blessings--my four children. Although I tried, I could not hold onto them forever. So, as each one flew the nest, I pondered. What do I want to be when I grow up? (I think you know where this is going.)
