This was one of my favorite homes to sell in the historic district of Bartow. Built in 1911, 850 Church St. It held an interesting past with outlaws and travelers that used the rooms for overnights while waiting on the train to go through and take them on new adventures. It had a grand front porch to sill sweet tea or lemonade while overlooking the spacious corner lot and peaceful oaks. The history with this home and the railroad stops near it made it the perfect place for travelers to rest before moving on. The interior had the original separate gentleman and ladies sitting rooms where the gentlemen could smoke by the fireplace and the ladies could have tea and sweets while they talked about fashion and their expected travel escapades with their men (who were also telling stories of their own) on the other side of the hall. Soaring ceilings, wood floors and the big glass atrium/porch faced the side towards the old railway tracks so travelers could watch for their train to come and take them off for new adventures. It's full of stories no "new" home built today can boast of. I fell in love with its old world charm and stories of the owners' relatives that might just have evaded the law once or twice were really interesting....a real great home for those that love local history. It was a labor of love for me to get to help sell this one!! Its one I would have been happy to buy myself if I had been able to at that time...it was just super!!
