In 1986 I was a junior in high school and had the opportunity for a part time job at a real estate office, as a personal assistant. I learned a lot about the business from the toughest boss I've ever had. Ramona was demanding, and had a personal ethic and drive I had never seen before, or since. She encouraged me to obtain my license, and on my 18th birthday I drove to Olympia and picked it up in person. Although I chose to go back to school and pursue other interests in my 20's, I eventually made my way back to my first love. In the years since, I have experienced many sides of this business. When my kids were young, I spent time away from sales and instead honed my skills as a certified appraiser, eventually owning a business with my husband that did both appraisals and home inspections.
