In baseball, basketball, football you can hear the chant "Fear the Beard" for their teams' follically enhanced (bearded) favorite player. The beard has become, once again, a symbol of fierceness in competition, giving that player his super powers. I too have embraced my inner beard, that now outwardly expresses itself. The beard has had many historic meanings; and has been embraced by many different cultures and religions for a variety of reasons. For me, it has meant the part of my identity that I have always felt, and feel like I have joined in its historic continuum. I am, after all, in the "Land of Lincoln", a man known for his honesty, integrity and ambition to do the right thing.
