- Craig never responded to my request
DO NOT USE Leading Edge Realty as a REAL-ESTATE AGENT or PROPERTY MANAGER. I would rate Craig Dennis a zero if possible. Nearly impossible to contact or even get an email reply from the company, and I am an owner of a property under contract with Leading Edge Realty. Would not respond to multiple requests for information from a prospective and high quality renter interested in one of my properties. For months now, I have not received a single phone call or email from Leading Edge Realty with updates for a property I have listed for sale with the company. I will be terminating all contracts with Leading Edge Realty ASAP.
- Craig helped me buy a home
Firstly, I rented a home with Lead Edge Realty, I did not purchase a home (thank god!) I have never in my life had such a horrendous living experience. Craig seems like a great, friendly guy at first, love to talk your ear off, and makes a million promises he can't keep! When we moved in, we moved in knowing that the property wasn't 100% perfect. That is fine! I can overlook some stains on the carpet and a kitchen with outdated equipment. We had very little issues the first year; our oven stopped working and Craig had it replaced within the first week of moving, so we felt like this would be a good relationship with the landlord. However, after that, it all went downhill. The second summer we lived in our house, the water heater and A/C failed within a week. They kept telling us to try to relight the water heater, which I had to do 6 times before Craig decided to send someone to replace it. The A/C failed during the hottest weeks of summer (August) and then the basement flooded, and the house became unbearable to live in. I had to stay with friends for over a month (while still paying rent). It took 19 days for him to finally send someone out to look at it and by that time, the humidity levels were at 84% (the average humidity level should be between 30 and 50%). Due to this, mold grew on everything I owned! Wallpaper in the kitchen from the 70s that had just been painted over began peeling off to reveal a TON of black mold! We all were getting very sick, my dog began to lose all of his fur, and it still took Craig ages to get it fixed. When he did finally send a handy man, they claimed the mold was not dangerous(though never tested it) and then proceded to only remove a little bit of the peeling wallpaper. Didn't check the rest of the wall for mold, and didn't remove any of the other areas of mold. They claimed they would replace the carpet that was damaged with water and the wood-paneled walls that were damaged. NONE of that happened, and it is currently 7 months after the fact. I ended up paying $200+ out of pocket to remove some of the mold, but because I don't own the house, they legally couldn't do deeper mold testing. I've sent the landlord over 20 emails and have heard nothing. I have had to go as far as finding the owners info so that I could go directly to him. Even then, I have heard nothing. We asked to move out due to all the problems and they tried to charge us $10GRAND to move out! Unbelievable! Long story short, DON'T USE LEADING EDGE REALTY. The particular house in question is 6210 Candlewood Dr in Charlotte, owned by John Mattox. On a positive note, I had to do so much research about rental laws and about how to fix problems in your home because of the landlord's unresponsiveness that I could probably build my own home, so I never have to deal with this again.
