We interviewed Karen for our listing among three other realtors which where all highly recommended by our friends. Even though they where all professional Karen was very friendly, confident, personal, caring with a strong referral for negotiations. The real-estate market was changing to a buyers market and we wanted to get the highest amount we could from our condo before we leave to buy out of state. We are so glad that we choose Karen as our realtor. She was right-on in her marketing strategies and listing price recommendations. She had a team of professional staggers and painters that helped make our condo look the best. She is a Feng-shui consultant and her color choices where fabulous. She was holding my hand throughout this transaction because I loved my place and it was very stressful for me. I felt confident and I trusted her. My husband and I have worked with Karen twice: once when we bought our home, and then again when we went to sell it. I am writing this recommendation because we are both extremely impressed with her work. The best metric of how great a job she did can be summed up in price: while we were able to buy our house at about 5% over Zestimate value, we sold it for 25% over Zesimate value (without any major home improvements) and $200k over asking. When we bought our first house, Karen was enthusiastic about showing us houses and it felt so easy! She would just drive me around and we would look at places, without feeling rushed or like it was a bother. Her deep knowledge of the Redwood City/ Emerald Hills/ San Carlos area was clearly evident. Furthermore, she knows a lot about home repairs, so she could give us ballpark figures of how much certain changes would cost (as we have since learned, not every real estate agent can do this). Karen was able to get us into the house we eventually bought early (before the open house), which I believe allowed us to get a better price on it, especially since she did a great job negotiating down the price of the house. And most impotantly, we have loved living in the house for the last three years. When it came time to sell (because we are having to move due to work), Karen was also amazing. We considered selling it ourselves as a FSBO and interviewed numerous real estate agents. Going with Karen was undoubtably the correct choice, as Karen clearly had the most in-depth knowledge of the Redwood City market. This knowledge was invaluable, as she got us to put the house on the market at just the right time, which helped create a bidding war for the property (we had 7 offers within 6 days of putting the house on the market). She did an excellent job handling the other agents to not only get us the highest purchase price, but also to allow us to stay in the house (rent-free) until June (the purchase closed in March). There is just no way that our house-selling experience could have gone better: the house sold for way more than we thought possible (based on both Zillow estimates as well as numerous meetings with other real estate agents), and Karen was able to deal with the legal/ financing issues surrounding staying in the house in June. Beyond this, she was very supportive about the stress caused by the process: for instance, she made a last-minute visit to our house on a Saturday when I became concerned about paint colors. Oh! And she has even been helpful to us after the sale of our house was completed (since some other questions have come up about houses we were considering buying in Pittsburgh, PA).
