- Shannon listed, but didn't sell, my home
Shannon was an agent for a client that was in contract for my home. She never returned my agents calls and told our agent lie after lie. Not only did she lie about the EM, but she set up a visit to our house saying that a contractor wanted to come in the house to start estimates for renovations. She and her client showed up at the house and never introduced herself or her client. Totally gave false information and I thought she was an interior designer. I would not trust her and her inability to be honest is why this review is being written.
- Shannon never responded to my request
Shannon has an interesting way of connecting with well to do Atlantans and then not paying her bills or returning calls. Likely has done lots of transactions with unassuming builders and clients, but buyer beware. She’s all about the money, but not the truth. I second the review of the other individual that posted a review. I never knew what to trust. I tried to research her history with the Georgia association of realtors, but they said she isn’t a member anymore.
- Shannon listed and sold my home
The other reviewers were being kind in my opinion.
- Shannon listed and sold my home
Zero stars is not low enough for Shannon Makaila, she has a criminal record for scamming and lies with others in Dekalb county, Georgia records. She is terribly under qualified for touching contracts. More importantly, she is an unethical real estate agent lacking a good moral compass. I met Shannon Makaila after I received my real estate license and began working in the same office in Midtown Atlanta at Harry Norman Realtors. She was so friendly and fun to work around. I was successful working part-time only as real estate agent for two years until recession. I went to college for the entire recession period, so I held onto Shannon’s name to possibly use as an agent to sell my condo. Instead of being an easy and happy experience, I was in for a rude awakening! To keep it short and to the point here’s the short of it. In 2017, Shannon listed my condo at a price I was happy with given I make a few upgrades like a backsplash and a new laminate flooring in a small kitchen for $700-$800. I did it myself, it was beautiful, so she had professional photos taken of my condo and we received an offer on the first day. So far so good! Here’s where things got really shady. Shannon talked to me and said I should agree to pay for basic repairs to the flooring under the A/C, which had some rot. This repair would be $200-$400 max. The part that was left out was she didn’t put a cap on how much repairs I would pay for. Unfortunately, I had agreed to a new job in another state starting asap, so I packed up and left the condo in impeccable condition and move-in ready. To my surprise, Shannon calls to tell me the A/C needs repair and it is $8,000 for a 700 sq.ft. Apartment-style condo. I had never had an issue in my condo with the A/C. I refused to agree, but she tells me I have no choice because there was no cap on the contract with repairs agreed to last. This expense of $8k (plus realtor fees and closing costs) was so much more than $200-$400 max. I didn’t have anything being a single mother of a college student while just graduating college, and the cost to move across the country. So, I was trapped she said and had to pay it from the bottom line of the closing costs. After closing, I was happy it was closed, but losing $17-$25k was quite a blow to a single parent. I was so upset, felt cheated and was devastated to pay that. Oh, but there’s more. A month or two passed, Shannon texted me to request $1,500 to pay for the professional photographer fees. That’s not legal. It’s all due at closing. How unethical to request this. To be honest, I don’t recall if I saw the fees or if the buyer even received a new AC. But there was no way in hell I was paying a penny to anyone post-closing! I looked online after being so bothered to find her Dekalb County illegal real estate activities I was not aware of prior to using her. Avoid Shannon Makaila and any agency she works for if you want to have a professional realtor or broker. This was the absolute worst experience after spending 15 years in real estate!
