I never stopped moving, it seemed like I could never slow down. When it was time for me to take matters into my own hands, I made a decision. I moved around a lot growing up, often moving several times in the same year. My parents divorced when I was very young, before I can even remember. I was constantly shuffling back and forth between the two of them, until I was around six years old. They had a disagreement, and my mom and I went to her native country of Guatemala. I had never learned Spanish, growing up in California my whole life. Suddenly, I was transplanted in this entirely new place, a new language, new culture. It was overwhelming and it was not long before my mom had to go back to the United States, to go back to work. Then, I was left with family members for the next several years. Again, I was shuffled around several times a year from place to place, starting over in a new family member’s home. I was lucky during those years that each home was kind towards me and treated me well, but I could not help feeling adrift with the lack of stability. Around three years after I first arrived, my parents worked through their disagreement and I still remember seeing my dad in the parking lot after school that day. I ran to him, tears streaming down my face and the both of us stood there and cried as we hugged. I had missed both of my parents so much, and I could finally go home. We went back to the U.S., but we did not stop moving. My father was moving up in his life professionally and continued to upgrade our homes as well. Eventually, I ended up in San Fernando Valley with my mom for the last two years of high school and decided I wanted to stop packing up my life and moving. I stayed nearby to go to college, but it was not a good fit for me. After a couple years, I started working as a Physical Education teacher in a local school where I had been a mentor. I loved that job, getting to see all the kids every day and do something athletic, which I have always enjoyed, it was wonderful. But I soon realized it was not where my future lied. I knew I needed to do something else, but as I tried out classes at the local college and searched, I just could not figure it out. My dad and I reconnected, and I went to stay with him, quitting my teaching job and focusing on finding that next chapter in my life. He had been working on some real estate investments and I went with him to check out the properties. Through this, I connected with a local real estate broker who asked why I was not in real estate. I had actually already taken the necessary classes at the time; the subject had always interested me. When I was very young, I used to go with my mom on days off school when she worked cleaning the homes of others. Some of the homes I saw were in the wealthiest parts of California and I saw then the potential real estate could hold for others reaching their dreams. It was in the back of my mind throughout the years as I collected more and more knowledge about it. But I never thought to jump into it. I was finally convinced and got my license in 2003, going into it full time. I have been practicing ever since and have finally found that stability I was always looking for. My wife, Myriam, and I have been living in the same area since our oldest daughter was only a couple years old. We have raised our family here in the South Bay area, near our family and in a community we love. Family is the most important thing to me, providing that stability for my two daughters has been a blessing. And it is something I want to continue to share, helping others reach their dreams and find stability through real estate. Buying a house is more than the structure, it is the place you are going to live with your family. Growing up, I moved a lot and quickly learned what makes a home, and how important it is to have stability. I have 17+ years of experience as a licensed REALTOR® and have seen the market through some wild times. This has given me the ability to help you break down the complicated process of real estate into manageable chunks, to avoid overwhelm and keep the process as stress-free as possible. I will prepare you for every outcome so that you always know what to expect. I am focused on helping you achieve your dreams through real estate, whatever those look like.
