  • Jan helped me buy a home

Jan's a character, and her brash, big-hair personality took me a minute to get used to, but she did a fantastic job for us. She has a ton of experience in Denver, and knows the different neighborhoods, their histories, and their trends really well. She's very outgoing, so any time we went to look at a place, she'd strike up a conversation with the neighbors and get insider details on the house and neighborhood that were very useful. We even got in to see a few houses before they went on the market thanks to this trait. Between her experience and her personality, she has amassed a huge network of useful contacts and gave us great recommendations for our mortgage lender, inspector, plumber, etc. She also knows to point out what features of a house might cause unexpected problems (chipping ice off the sidewalk of a north-facing house, lower re-sale potential of a backyard that butts up to a major road, structural damage that would be prohibitively expensive to fix) or unexpected bonuses (the future rental potential of the house near the soon-to-be built hospital, popcorn ceiling that had already been scraped off and refinished, upgraded windows or electrical). This gave us a lot more confidence in our decisions whether to make an offer. Above all, Jan worked really hard for us. We were picky, low budget, and our Wants list kept changing. We started with her in April, and went to probably over a hundred different house showings by October, as well as looking over several hundred listings to see what we might want. Despite this meaning she had to do a lot of work for a really small commission, she always seemed happy to meet us whenever/wherever and never hinted that we might be more work than we were worth. She was always available and always helpful. Jan was a great realtor for us. Yes, this sounds like an advertisement - I promise I'm not being compensated, I'm just really happy. If you go with Jan, I'm sure you'll be happy with her too.
