- Kent helped me buy a home
My husband and I were beyond thrilled with our experience with Kent. He was introduced to me by a mutual friend at her birthday party. He had helped her buy her current home (which she loved) and sell her former home. Our mutual friend adored him, and they became friends after working together. (How often do people become friends with their realtors, remain in touch, and socialize afterwards? Not many, I think.) One of the things I liked about Kent instantly is his low-key, non-pressure demeanor. I often find realtors ... aggressive (no offense meant), and Kent was not like this in the least. Once I initiated contact with Kent, he had my husband and I over to his lovely North Park home to discuss what we were looking for in great depth. He is a wonderful listener, and really has his client's best interests in mind. He worked for us tirelessly, reaching out every day with new listings, talking with me/us at length about what did and did not appeal to us with various listings to try to hone in on the best fit in terms of neighborhoods and houses. One of the many things I appreciated is that he never seemed to lose patience with us during this process. We cast a broad net in our search: I owned a condo in Hillcrest and my husband owned a house in University City, and we were looking at numerous neighborhoods to find something that would work for both of us, which likely created extra work for Kent. Kent called us on a Saturday to let us know a house in South Park had just fallen out of escrow, and was having an open house that day. My husband and I dropped everything, drove over, fell in love with the potential of the house, and called Kent to make an offer immediately. We went straight to his house to handle the paperwork, and we got the house. If Kent hadn't been so on top of things, we would have missed the narrow window we had to see - and make an offer on - our house. It is also worth mentioning that Kent is a truly wonderful, well-intended person of tremendous integrity. We mistakenly worked with another realtor after Kent - to sell my Hillcrest condo - as this other realtor convinced us (when we met him at a Hillcrest open house) that we would do far better hiring him because he lived (and specialized) in Hillcrest, and he could talk up the neighborhood to prospective clients. He also said he was the only realtor that conducted all of his listings' showings, which added a personalized touch to the process, and that he specialized in being a listing agent over being a buyer's agent, and that was what we would do best with. My husband thought we should hire this realtor to sell my Hillcrest condo, even though I wanted to work with Kent again. Ultimately, I listened to my husband and we hired the other realtor. I still regret agreeing to this, and that was years ago. Kent is far more trustworthy than the other realtor (and realtors in general), and I would have greatly preferred working with him again for numerous reasons. I strongly recommend Kent as a realtor. I can't imagine finding a realtor as kind, thorough, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. He is a gem.
