Your safe and successful real estate transaction is our top priority

COVID-19 affects us all, especially in real estate. Your health and safety are paramount. We’re here to help you through it.

We’re in this together

COVID-19 has gripped the world, impacting our work and our industry. While we remain committed as ever to our vision of a world where every real estate transaction is simple, certain, and satisfying — keeping our clients, agent partners, and team members healthy and safe is top of mind for us. At HomeLight, our team is working from home but you can expect the same level of service that you’re used to across our organization.

We also launched the Move Safe Certification program to identify real estate agents who use tools, technology, and practices to help keep you safe. You can trust that an agent with the Move Safe badge will keep best practices and your safety in mind while you navigate these uniquely challenging times.

Start with finding the best agent in your area

Reaction to the Coronavirus has created a patchwork of new guidelines, restrictions, and processes across the U.S. housing market. COVID-19 affects each local market differently, but we’re seeing common themes:

  • Sellers are hesitant to host open houses
  • Agents find it difficult to show and tour homes
  • Buyers are taking their home search online
  • Lenders are more reluctant to write loans
  • Some iBuyers have temporarily ceased operations

We know you have questions

These are uncertain and unprecedented times. We’re actively monitoring the situation on the ground through daily communications with our agent and investor partners. Whether you’re buying or selling a home in this environment, if you have questions, we aim to bring you clear and objective answers.

Are you a real estate agent?

The health and safety of our clients and agent partners is our top priority. We urge you to follow your state and local safety protocols, and adapt your business with measures such as these:

  • Avoid open houses until the virus wanes and/or local officials allow you to hold open houses again.
  • If in-person showings are allowed in your market, encourage clients to drive themselves and accompany them by driving yourself separately.
  • Make sure homes are cleaned thoroughly before going on the market and in between showings, particularly high traffic surfaces such as door handles.
  • Before an in-person showing, have your sellers open all doors and cabinets — anything a potential buyer might want to see inside — so that the buyer doesn’t have to touch handles and doorknobs.
  • Clients should be offered hand sanitizer before and after showing a home.
  • Ask anyone involved in an in-person showing to wear masks and gloves.
  • Consider making more frequent use of virtual appointments and showings.
