  • Arlene helped me buy a home

Extremely helpful. Knew what we wanted and helped us find our perfect fixer-upper home.

    • Arlene Finney is amazing. My husband and I found Arlene three months ago, and today I am sitting in our brand new dream home in Cupertino, writing this review. We only needed to make one offer with Arlene, we closed in 18 days, and there were zero hiccups in the entire process. Here's why I think Arlene truly excels at what she does:1) Arlene has a great team of people that she works with. Our lender, Tim Stone, with PNC Bank, was also extremely meticulous and thorough. We closed in 18 days for our house.2) Arlene is strategic. We wrote a competitive, zero-contingency offer that was 250k over list price. Despite that, we were up against an all-cash offer out of Hong Kong. In this type of competitive process, Arlene and her team took extra steps to make sure that the seller would want to sell to us.The Bay Area housing market is cutthroat, and having the money isn't enough. You need an agent that is aggressive in making sure your offer stands out.3) Arlene is knowledgeable. We went on two tours with her, and really felt like we received a lot of valuable information about which neighborhoods would work for us, and which ones would not. She can also drive around without any GPS, because she knows the area. The San Jose area is so difficult because beyond bad school districts, you have to worry about being next to a highway, a train track, a garbage dump (I'm looking at you Milpitas!), a superfund site, a liquefaction zone, a flood zone, a noisy street, among a million other things. Buying real estate here is buying on "hard mode." Arlene is a really fantastic resource as you're navigating these challenges.4) Arlene is responsive. Arlene responds to messages at all hours, and always made time for us. When I first saw our house listed on Estately, I asked to see it and Arlene made it happen within 24 hours, days before the open house.5) Arlene is trustworthy. She will tell you "No, this house is in a terrible neighborhood" or "No, this house is next to the dump." She doesn't want to see you in a house that you'll be miserable in, or in a neighborhood where you'll get robbed.Lastly, I want to emphasize that there is a HUGE difference between a good buyer's agent and a bad one. My husband and I had a terrible time with a terrible buyer's agent the first time around, when we bought our condo in San Jose in 2015. He met with us once in a Starbucks, told us our 600k budget was pretty unrealistic, and we never saw him again. We did all of the house hunting, tours, and signed the contract and got a loan, all on our own. We were young, inexperienced, and didn't know any better, and the whole process was extremely stressful, several months long, and we almost ended up homeless at one point, when we weren't sure if we would close on time. We still listed him as our agent so he got the commission from our house purchase, but the process really left us with a serious distrust of realtors.Arlene is the complete opposite of that - she really cares about all of her clients and will make sure you're happy. She will work with you no matter your budget - just check her Zillow transactions page.I went into the experience extremely cautious because I had baggage from the last realtor, and she really turned this into a wonderful experience. I only wish I found her earlier!

    • I just sold my house in San Jose (April 2021) and had a fantastic experience working with Arlene. I interviewed several agents in the process and am so glad that I chose Arlene. She is professional, always on time, a great negotiator and was super fun to work with! My house needed some quite a bit of work before it hit the market, and Arlene was sensitive to my budget, and only recommended the things that she was sure would have a high payback. Arlene also found great contractors and managed everything - this was super important as I live far away!I was pretty anxious as I have owned this home for 20 years and did not know what to expect in the crazy market we are in today. In the end my house sold in 5 days for $360K over the asking price! Everything went smoothly including the mounds of paperwork that followed.Simply put, Arlene Rocks! I very very strongly recommend her no matter what your real estate needs are!

    • Arlene is an incredible realtor. She helped my husband and I sell our home in downtown San Jose, as well as purchase a home in the Santa Cruz mountains. She was everything you could ever ask for in a realtor for both the buy and sell side. She got our home in downtown San Jose sold in 9 days, despite a dip in the market due to Covid. We interviewed another realtor who suggested we invest over 10k in our home (which was already turn key and pretty pristine) in order to get it sold. Arlene told us there was no need and instead suggested a few minor things with no real cost to them, but that had high impact. She saved us so much time and money and still got it sold within 9 days for a good price, considering the dip in the market. She also helped get us our dream home, even though there was actually a higher offer from another buyer!! But she worked her magic and made it happen. I feel confident that we would not have gotten this particular home without Arlene. She also took care of everything when it came to working with various vendors/contractors, going way above and beyond the level of service we received from working with a realtor previously. She is also very honest and is sincerely invested in ensuring you end up in the right home. I would highly recommend Arlene to anyone, for both buying and selling.

    • Arlene recently helped us upgrade to a single family home that had everything we wanted. AND sell our old townhouse very quickly and for a good price. She made the whole buying and selling process as painless as possible. Sometimes even fun.One day, not too long ago, I went from casually browsing real estate online to I WANT THIS HOUSE. It was a rare find because we had a long list of criteria. I knew we had to act quickly. I found Arlene on Yelp and she jumped into action. While we were going through the loan preapproval process, she kept us updated on the status of the house and even took the time to show us other homes for comparison. Once everything was lined up, she used her negotiation skills to get us the house despite another very competitive offer. And then walked us through the entire closing process. The next step was selling our old townhouse, which was also a great experience with Arlene. She sold it very quickly and very close to our goal price in a slowing market. At that time we were quite overwhelmed with trying to squeeze packing/moving/unpacking into our hectic lives as working parents with two young kids. Arlene took care of everything to prep our townhouse for sale and then she used a very aggressive and effective strategy to sell. Another house in our complex that was basically the same as ours had been on the market for several months. Meanwhile, Arlene got us multiple offers ten days after listing our house.Arlene is quick and efficient, but also warm and friendly. She truly cares about her clients and my kids fell in love with her. She does seem quite busy, but she's very responsive when it matters. She's enthusiastic about what she does. She turned getting the keys to our new house into a fun celebration. She is extremely organized and we were grateful for her checklists. She has great quality people for everything from her recommended loan officer to inspector, painting crew, stager, handyman, etc. She knows San Jose very well, such as the schools, which was important to us. She does what it takes to get the job done, but also does her work with integrity. Yes, all the glowing reviews true, including mine.
