- Jaime listed and sold my home
If you do any business with Mr. Mora, do not depend upon a handshake; GET IT IN WRITING! My wife is an active duty Navy O-6, I'm a retired Army E-6. We contacted Mr. Mora from Washington, DC due to PCS orders to San Diego. I flew in and met Mr. Mora at the property we've now occupied for the past three years. (It wasn't by choice.) The property was in deplorable condition and I immediately rejected it due to condition and excessive pricing. Sadly though, there was no better options. I contacted Mr. Mora and told him we'd take the property with some exceptions. He and I walked through the house and there was an extensive laundry list of things required to justify $2800.00 a month for rent. In all honesty, everything in the house was original and it suffered from neglect. He assured me that all my concerns would be addressed before our arrival in a month. (I have complete documentation and photos to prove it.) He also asked for all my wife's information to run a credit check!? Yes, he actually ran a credit check on a Navy O-6. (Which she passed of course.) He then sent a lease to us and a request for the deposit. We signed the lease and submitted a check for $2800.00. We arrived at the property one month later as we stated to discover that NOTHING had been done. Not a single correction had been made and we had just moved cross country and was facing a house we'd normally reject. Had the moving truck in the driveway and was completely SCREWED. Mr. Mora KNEW we had no choice but to accept the substandard house that was overpriced. To make matters even WORSE, we have an elderly family member that's physically disabled. This house has been nothing short of a nightmare but not once have we been late on rent. The entire property needs repainting. The yard and flower beds needed addressing. We had it done professionally because it was horrible; requested to be reimbursed because it was supposed to be done before we moved in. We were completely blown off. The Hot Tub and Fountain in the yard was never addressed. The carpet is so damaged a professional cleaning service refused to clean it unless we signed a damage waiver. Reported it to Mr. Mora, he instructed us to have it cleaned and he'd sign the waiver. Really? You want me to waste my hard earned money on carpet that should be replaced? There was an infestation of Honeybees in the wall. The correct protocol was to hire a Bee Wrangler, harvest the honey and move the hive. Mr. Mora showed up with a can of RAID and attempted unsuccessfully to eradicate the hive. He then called in an exterminator and destroyed the hive. The honey is still in the wall. We had an infestation of Rats in the back yard due to a very tall palm tree that hadn't been serviced in years. It was only after I pointed out that we as the tenants would not be responsible for any accidents or injuries affecting neighbors regarding the tree. It was only then that action was taken to eradicated the nesting and make the tree safe. Huge windstorm came and destroyed the canvass Gazebo; (the one thing we could actually use in the back yard.) He left it destroyed and cluttering the yard for almost a MONTH before removing it. He sent a cheap replacement that wasn't anchored by his technician. In less that 48 hours, it too was severely damaged by wind. When I addressed this to Mr. Mora, he said it wasn't his problem and if we wanted a gazebo we should buy one and take it with us when we moved! (And I've the documentation/Pictures to prove it.) He eventually had it re-installed and anchored. I wrote a letter to Mr. Mora and sent it certified w/return receipt regarding the matter. It went to his P.O. Box. Rather than sign for it, he opened it, read it then taped it shut. I couldn't prove delivery. (And No, I've no idea how he accomplished it.) Most recently, the property went into foreclosue due to non payment of association fees! Yet, they're still collecting rent without any interruption! There's much more that I could write but you get the message. I could not with a clear conscience refer anyone to Mr. Mora. As the old saying goes, "How do you know he's a LIAR? His lips are moving. I've waited patiently THREE years to write this because we just bought a home and we're moving. I've documented every encounter with Mr. Mora and took extensive photographs as evidence should it become necessary. There's a LOT of quality Realtors and Property Managers. Jaime Mora IS NOT an HONEST or HONORABLE Realtor. Avoid him at all costs because given half a chance; he'll BURN YOUR ASS.
