    Ms. Vezina was the agent representing the buyers of our recently sold house. Our first impression of her was positive, however it turned very negative during the final stages. This greatly reduced my opinion of her, specifically in terms of honesty and integrity. We had a standard $40/day occupancy agreement with her clients for two weeks after closing, with Talina as their property manager (they are investors and will rent the house). Our agreement stated that the house needed to be in "like or better condition" before we left. In that time period, we patched over two dozen nail holes, touched up paint, and cleaned most of the walls. The morning after a long day of moving everything out of our house, we came back to scrub, sweep, vacuum, and wipe down everything we could. We even left not-cheap curtain rods and a coat hanger for the new occupants to enjoy. By any standard, we improved the condition of the house significantly from the way it was before. Thus, we fulfilled our part of the agreement to leave the house in "like or better" condition. We went above and beyond, and turned the keys over to Talina, including a note that we did our best to clean, as our two-year old son had a broken leg the same week we were moving. Regardless, with all the extra work we did, no one could deny that the house was in "better" condition. However, Talina informed our agent that she and her cash-rich investor clients would be withholding $145 from our (single-income family with a toddler and a baby on the way) escrow funds for a cleaning fee, as the house was "not to their expectations." The contract firmly stipulated an objective standard of "like or better condition," not "according to the buyer's expectations." If their subjective whim were the criteria, there would be no limit to how far they could move the goalposts. It is unreasonable and unjust for them to expect someone else to pay to professionally clean the house they just bought. She and her clients have taken a petty course of action to shake down a hard-working family for a sum that is nothing to them, but quite a bit to us. Talina's insistence to break our agreement revealed her true colors. For these reasons, I would certainly not recommend working with Talina Vezina for a real estate transaction.
