How the DuPage County Transfer Tax is Calculated

DuPage County’s transfer tax, known as a Real Estate Transfer Tax, is calculated at a rate of $0.25 per $500 of the property’s sale price.

For example, if you sold your home for $429,149 (DuPage County’s median home price), you could expect to pay $214.57 in DuPage County transfer taxes.

Sellers are also expected to pay for Illinois state transfer taxes, which are equal to $0.50 per $500 of the property’s sale price.
