When you spend 24 years of your life in the men’s apparel industry with a company as renowned for service excellence as Nordstrom, the experience most definitely impacts how you view the world. It certainly did for lifelong Peninsula resident Allen Jones. Allen joined Nordstrom after 10 years as a men’s furnishings buyer with a San Francisco-based menswear corporation and quickly embraced the company’s “customer-first” culture. “It all boiled down to respecting the fact that everyone is different with their own likes and dislikes,” Allen says. “There is no such thing as ‘One size fits all.’” During that time, Allen recognized that more often than not, the definition of quality wasn’t a garment straight off the rack, but instead was finely tailored to the customer’s precise specifications.
