I would think twice before you use this agent or any other agents associated with Distinctive Homes in Encinitas. After five weeks of having our house on the market, we were unhappy with the lack of detail and communication we were receiving from our agent. It all started with the poor quality of the photos taken of the house. There was a lack in the attention-to-detail you would expect from a seasoned realty company. Although we are referring to small things - like a towel not properly staged in the kitchen or a blanket not neatly folded in the bedroom - they all add up and gave the impression that the realtor and/or photographer was not dedicated enough to ensure that the house was presented in its best light. Prior to the photos being taken, a high-caliber realtor/photographer would have walked through the house and reviewed each photo scene in detail. The fact that this was not done showed either poor attention-to-detail or a lack in understanding this task's importance. We communicated our feelings to the realtor and moved on. As weeks went on, we noticed a lack in communication and feedback by our realtor. Potential buyers were walking through the house, yet we seldom heard from our realtor. We understand that they obviously weren't interested enough to put forth an offer. But, we felt that a seasoned agent would have at least communicated much more frequently to give us with feedback. It was difficult to understand the silence on the other end. Was the realtor not calling the buyers' agents to obtain feedback? And if so, didn't she think that we would like to hear about such feedback in order to formulate a new marketing strategy? Did the realtor not think that it was necessary to communicate frequently so as to keep us from guessing about buyers' thoughts? Several times, we actually had to initiate communication with our agent to get feedback. This is not the way it should be. In fairness, we feel that our agent acted with good intentions but just either didn't have the time or sufficient experience. After five weeks, we decided that we had made a mistake and that we should have gone with another realtor. Hence, we contacted our agent to terminate our listing agreement with Distinctive Homes. Our agreement is a standard six-month contract that runs though October. We were honest in communicating to our agent that we wanted Distinctive Homes to delist the house and that we wanted to list it with an agent with whom we had previously worked. Our agent communicated this to Christy Hines, the broker at Distinctive Homes. Christy adamantly opposed delisting the home even though we told her that we would not be selling the home while listed with her company. This to us represents a certain level of pettiness. Distinctive Homes will keep the house listed and interested buyers that call her company won't be able to view the house. To us, this doesn't make much business sense, but so be it. It seems that her pride is blinding her from making the proper business decision. We recommend that you think twice before signing a listing contract with Distintive Homes in the future. You may regret it later.

      • We were so blessed to find Christy. We've bought and sold homes 5 homes using her and wouldn't think of using anyone else. She is so good at every aspect of being a realtor. She is a great negotiator for us and we never doubt that she has our best interest at heart. She's so very organized and detail oriented during the exhausting process of closing the deal and works with our loan person to make sure all goes well and in a timely manner. It's a great relief to have someone you know is knowledgeable, trustworthy and gifted at what she does!!

      • To say that she is knowledgeable about real estate would be totally understating her talents. She also has incredible knowledge about lending, brokering, and holds vast knowledge about all of the laws pertaining to buying, selling, and lending. This is not always the case with a real estate agent! She was always there to answer questions, to ease anxiety, and without question, always displayed the utmost in integrity -

      • Christy helped us to recently purchase our first home. We were living overseas so the purchase was especially tricky and she helped us every step of the way. She was strategic and adaptable to our needs and provided us with great council throughout the whole process. We were in a bidding situation with one other buyer on the property and she knew the perfect ways to position us to make sure the seller picked us. She knows San Diego real estate very well and made sure to put us in a house with the best value for our money.

      • Christy is such a pleasure to work with. She helped us with all of our needs, big and small, and was ALWAYS available to answer any of our concerns and questions in a very quick manner. We will definitely be working with her again in the future! She is very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. She sold our house in less than 2 weeks at our asking price!

      • Christy has excellent business and negotiation skills. She has a deep knowledge of the realestate contracting process and uses this for the benefit of her clients. Christy provided valuable guidance in closing a difficult transaction. She has my strongest endorsement.

      • Christy is extremely smart, efficient and straightforward. Since the first time I met with her I could tell that she was different than any other real estate I've worked with - and believe me I've worked with many during the last 5 years! She has tons of experience and she can give a good advice during negotiations/ that's more important that what you think since this is how you end up getting (or not getting) a place. She was also not annoying and she wouldn't call or email me listings that I wouldn't be interested / if you are looking for a place I bet you been in the situation where you get tons of listings that don't match what you want and wondering if your realtor is really listening - they don't but Christy is!

      • Christy came highly recommended from a friend of mine and she has since proven her weight in gold. I have asked for her knowledge and expertise both with buying and selling my house. I told her I was selling my house on short notice and she worked incredibly hard with me to make sure my house was in the best condition it could be in to sell. She is dedicated and dependable.

        - Mark Rawson
      • Christy is not only professional, but responsive and always thinking outside the box. "Can't" isn't in her vocabulary. "Won't" isn't, either. She goes above-and-beyond to make things easy on everyone, and has even tidied the house for showings when I wasn't there! I think one of the things that's most impressive is that she's smart -- and she uses her ability to think outside the box and get the job done, no matter what it takes. I would absolutely recommend her (and I have) to ANYONE

      • Christy masterfully managed a very difficult contingency sale of my home. From strategy on how to show and list the house, to managing multiple offers, to negotiation, to communicating with all parties involved with multiple offers and the contingency sales, to closing, she was professional, ethical, and proactive. Her judgement was impeccable. She knows the market and its trends. In addition, Christy made herself available to everyone 24/7 and was incredibly responsive and patient.

      • Christy was extremely helpful, and her expertise and patience enabled us to buy our dream home in a short timeframe. She advised on both the sale of our existing home and the new purchase, which required a lot of extra attention because of contingencies. She provided ideas and solutions on numerous occasions when small issues arose, and we ended up with great value and no surprises
